| What it is | A working fishing harbour and poncha town east of Calheta |
| From Calheta | ≈40 km · 30–40 min |
| Pair it with | Cabo Girão, five minutes above, or Funchal beyond |
| Best for | An hour, a drink and a harbour |
Câmara de Lobos is a short stop rather than a day: a bay of painted boats, a knot of bars, and the viewpoint where Churchill set up his easel in 1950. It is also the town most associated with poncha — worth comparing against the version poured at Calheta's own mill.
Practical notes
- Park above the harbour and walk down; the lanes are narrow.
- Combine with Cabo Girão, which is on the same detour off the expressway.
